Locally owned
Independent, run by the people who live where they work. The green badge is the one to look for.
Franchise
A local operator flying a national brand. Service can be good, but you should know it is a franchise.
Private-equity owned
Rolled into a national investment portfolio. Often where the local name gets spent down. Now you will see it.
