Know who you are really hiring

Since 2022, investment firms have quietly bought up hundreds of local home-service companies, usually keeping the old name on the truck. We put it right on the profile.

The sign stays the same while service slips

A trusted local name gets bought by a private-equity roll-up or rolled into a national franchise. The logo does not change, so you never know the owner did. Downstream, people report longer waits, harder upsells, and service that is not what it used to be. We think you deserve to know before you call, so we label it plainly on every listing.

The three badges

Locally owned

Independent, run by the people who live where they work. The green badge is the one to look for.

Franchise

A local operator flying a national brand. Service can be good, but you should know it is a franchise.

Private-equity owned

Rolled into a national investment portfolio. Often where the local name gets spent down. Now you will see it.
